Ann Elise Andrews 75 of Bellmead passed away Tuesday January 20, 2009. She bravely fought her declining health with a positive attitude and a deep commitment to live as strong as possible despite the odds. Graveside services will be 11:30 am Friday January 23 at Rosemound Cemetery with Father Timothy Vaverek officiating. Ann was born January 26, 1933 in Waco to Felix and Audrey (Gradel) Gottwald. She grew up in Waco and graduated from LaVega High School in 1951. She immediately entered Providence School of Nursing and completed her degree in 1955 with a passion for infant care. On September 21, 1956, Ann married Dale Andrews at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. She worked at James Connally Air Force Base for 4 years, following her dream of working with babies. She then became a mother and chose to stay home to raise her boys John and Robert. Ann will be remembered for her love of cooking, plants and animals. Anyone who knew her most likely has a stack of her recipes because it seemed her mission was to feed the world! She was also passionate about flowering plants- her African Violets were highly prized and continue to grace many window ledges. And an untold number of cats and dogs found a caring friend who intervened and provided them with as safe haven. She requested her beloved dog "George" be buried by her side. Ann has touched and enriched all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband Dale Andrews, who was also her unwavering caretaker, sons John Andrews and his ex-wife Martha Schlosser and their daughter Allison, Robert Andrews, his wife Donna and their children Melanie and Miranda all of Waco. Her brothers Robert Gottwald and his wife Cay of Phoenix, Bernie Gottwald and his wife Peggy of Waco and Larry Gottwald of Waco, sister Mary Gottwald of Austin and many nieces and nephews.
