Anton "Tony" Pavelka, 90 , of Hallsburg, passed away Monday, July 15 at a local hospital. Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 17, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Koen officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Pavelka Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, July 16 at the funeral home.Tony was born February 3, 1923 on the Pavelka family homestead in Hallsburg, Texas to Vinc and Mary (Weinzetl) Pavelka. He attended Hallsburg and Riesel Schools through the 8th grade and worked on the family farm until being drafted into the Army in 1943 at the age of 21. Tony attended basic training at Camp Crowder in Missouri, Camp Shelby in Mississippi and some additional training in California. He was then stationed in the Philippines for 2 years during WWII and returned home to work on the family farm. Tony coached the Elk Bobcats Baseball team in the early 1960's. He worked at Central Texas Iron Works for 16 years and continued to farm all his life on the family homestead. He served on the Hallsburg City Council, organized and served as Chief of the Hallsburg Volunteer Fire Department and was an original lifetime and active member of the Mart VFW Post # 2148. He was a member of SPJST Lodge 35 in Elk. Tony built, owned and operated the Lakeview Bait house in 1968 at Tradinghouse Lake where he organized and held numerous Crappie tournaments, which were a lot of work, but Tony thoroughly enjoyed. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; son in law, Jimmy Holle; and his beloved dog Button. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Pavelka; his children, Linda Peterson and husband, Pete of Waco, Elaine Karnis and husband, Wayne of Otto, Tonette Stem and husband, Wiley of Lott, Cindy Halabach and husband, Jason of Ft. Worth, Vicki Koen and husband, Bud of Mart and Rick Ward and wife Diana of Throckmorton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Rosie Gribble and husband, Doyle of Otto; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bobby Tlustos and Wayne Tlustos, Johnny Zanter, Freddy Kubitza, Walter Kubitza and Gary Kubitza and Robby Don Uptmor. Honorary pallbearers will be Kathy Sharp Anderson, Betty Sharp Luther and Linda Zanter Meador.
