Arthur W."Buddy" Engelke, 80 of Waco passed away Monday, February 4 at his residence. Services will be 10 am Saturday, February 9 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery in Riesel. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, February 8 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Buddy was born December 25, 1932 in Riesel to Henry and Helena (Lange) Engelke. He married Janie Ryno on December 18, 1953. He was a retired Engineer from the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for over 20 years. Buddy started playing guitar at age of 7 and had a great love for music. During his music career he played with Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, etc�. He enjoyed the outdoors, he never met anyone that didn't soon become his friend, was loved by all who knew him and loved his family, especially his great grand babies. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janie Engelke; daughters, Kathy Strickland and husband Will of Clifton, Nancy Blankenship of Whitney, Brenda Ellis and husband Karl of Gholson, Peggy Buzbee and husband Tommy of Gholson, Christine Young and husband Dwayne of West, Judy McCartney Davis and husband Jack of Eddy and Margaret Engelke and Jeff of Gholson; son Buddy Engelke Jr. and wife Tish of Whitney; sisters, Helen Doyle of Houston and Sissy Uptmore of Waco; brother Louie Engelke of San Antonio; 20 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cody Moore, Jeremy Sterling, Paul Engelke, Adam Hinkley, Cody Rieger and Joey Mitchell; Honorary Pallbearers will be, Michael Engelke, William Engelke, Christopher Svrcek, Jason Walpole and Rev.
