Byron Lavoice Swank, 84, of Waco passed away Friday, Dec. 10 at his residence. Services will be 2 pm Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Terry Wilkirson officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday, Dec. 13 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mr. Swank was born December 11, 1925 in Thurber, Texas to Ernest E. and Juanita (White) Swank. He served in the Army 184th Infantry during WWII and received 2 Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars and 3 Good Conduct Medals. On January 15, 1949 he married Bobbie Ruth Spradlin. He retired from Lone Star Gas in 1986 and was a Charter member of Bellmead First Baptist Church. Mr. Swank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister Frances Jackson and brothers John Bob, Leeland E. and Olan L. Swank. Survivors include his son, Mark Swank and wife Lisa of Carrollton; daughter Patti Swank of Waco; sister Janet Schuetz and husband Alfred of Waco; brothers, Rolan Swank and wife Joyce of Waco and Jerry Swank and wife Rose of Elm Mott; brother in law Winfred Jackson of Marshall and sister in law Shirley Swank of Lorena; grandchildren Scott Ferguson, John Michalik, Jr. and Rebekah Boyer, Thomas Swank, Kevin Swank and Megan Swank; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
