Carl Ryan passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at his ranch in Collinsville, Al. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. 6 p.m., Saturday, November 9, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Carl was born Dec 7, 1945 to Carolyne (Webster) and Carl Dodson in Muskogee, OK. The family made their home in Muskogee until relocating to Bellmead, TX in 1959. Carl served in the U.S. Army from 1968 -1973. His first assignment was B Btry, 6 BN (Hawk), 65th Arty ARADCOM serving in Key West, FL. From 5 Mar 1970-2 Mar 1971, he served in Ban Me Thout, South Vietnam. His last duty station was HHC 121st Sig BN, 1st Inf Div, Ft. Riley, Ks. His decorations include Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam service medal and two overseas bars.After leaving the military, Carl found his professional passion driving long-haul as an owner-operator for both Frozen Food Express and Chemical Express. In the following years, Carl met and married Leslie (Rankin). Together they shared a passion for cattle and horses. This passion grew into the R & R Ranch, Reagan, TX. Leslie's civilian service with the Army resulted in their relocation to AL. Together, Carl and Leslie selected the best cattle from their herd, loaded them up and took them also. The R & R Ranch continues today. Carl is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Leslie, daughter Christi and son Russ; sisters and brothers are Delores Dieman, Wanda Green, Norma Menefee, Doug Dodson, and Dean Dodson; grandchildren Megan Bohon and husband Daniel Bohon, Cody Hart, Daniel Roush, Nicholas Roush and great-granddaughter Addison Grace Bohon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
