Carmela T. Martin, 74, of Waco, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, March 3, at Calvary Chapel, 400 S. 4th St., Waco, Texas 76701, with Charles Arriola officiating. Burial will follow at 2 pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Monday, March 2 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Carmela was born May 19, 1940 in New York, to Leonard and Emily (Doucette) Vitello. She married Edward Martin on October 17, 1959 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2012. She attended St. Jerome Catholic Church and the Lacy Lakeview United Methodist Church. Carmela was a Queen Mom of the Red Hat Society, who enjoyed all kinds of crafts and lunches with the Red Hat Ladies. Her greatest joy came from making pumpkin pies, from scratch and giving them to everyone she loved and those who touched her life. Carmela was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Louis J. Vitello. Survivors include her daughters, Deb Martin and Emily Meisner and husband Gary (of Colorado); her sons, Don Martin and wife, Linda (of Spring, TX); Edward Martin Jr. and wife, Marji (of Arizona); and Rob Martin and wife, Karen (of Colorado); her sisters, Emily Foser and husband, Richard (of Ohio) and Maria Gertson and husband, Tom (of Corsicana, TX); 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Gina.
