Charles "Gene" Woodliff, 81, of Waco, passed from this life into glory on Monday, May 16th. Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, May 18 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 17 at the funeral home.
Gene was born November 13, 1929 in Waco to Edmond Ray & Edith Pauline (Mesnick) Woodliff. He married Mary Louise Thompson on September 7, 1949. Gene and Mary have been charter members of Timber Crest Baptist Church since 1955. He worked for the Waco Tribune-Herald for 45 years and served in the Texas National Guard for several years. In addition to their service at Timber Crest Baptist, Gene & Mary also served their community by delivering Meals on Wheels for approximately 15 years. Gene was preceded in death by his brothers: Ray Woodliff & Donald Woodliff. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Thompson Woodliff; three children, Donna Wachsmann and husband, Joe, David Woodliff and wife, Brenda, Dwain Woodliff; 5 grandchildren, Kristen Vrba and husband, Jerry, Eric Wachsmann and wife, Marion, Ariana Anderson and husband, Leal, Alanna Woodliff, Travis Woodliff; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister Pauline Rose and husband, Bill. The family would like to thank all those who served Gene at Providence Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital (Houston), Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital (Temple), Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center & Kindred Hospital (Ft. Worth).
