Connie Douthit, 97, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, at a local hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 26 at Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 6 pm Thursday, Dec. 24 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mr. Douthit was born July 8, 1912 in Palestine to Edwin and Laura Mae (Lively) Douthit and married Lola Pearl Vinson on October 1, 1932. He was an independent truck driver until he was 84 years old and enjoyed hauling dirt and gravel for his friends . Mr. Douthit also enjoyed many years of family trips to Colorado and quail hunting with loved ones. He was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include his wife Lola Douthit of Bellmead, daughter Katherin Westbrook and husband Charles of Axtell, son Lonnie Douthit and wife Linda of China Spring, granddaughters he and Lola raised Lea Lisa Black and Karen Kim Girard, grandchildren Ricky Westbrook, Randy Westbrook, Laurie McGaugh and Debbie Williams, 14 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tommy Girard, Randy Westbrook, Brandon Girard, Shannon Girard, T. J. Jackson and Arron Westbrook.
