Delores "Ann" Posey Harris, 83, of Waco, passed away Wednesday August 4, 2021 at her home in Waco. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday August 11, 2021 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park in Robinson, Texas. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday August 10, 2021 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Ann was born March 25, 1938 to Alvin Bakas Posey and Francis Adella Stow Posey. She became the oldest of six children and had a gentle mothering nature unless you didn't mind her then she could swing a mean belt. Her family settled in the Waco/Elm Mott area and she attended the Connally Schools. Here in Waco she met the love of her life, a tall handsome Marine Elba Rueben Harris. She was smitten. Determined to marry, she convinced her grandmother to sign for her and eloped and married. She told how nervous she was when she had to tell her daddy. Thank goodness Paw Paw liked her choice because that's how the Harris clan began. Traveling with her husband to different military bases, she always opened her heart and home to people. She had a spirit of hospitality and loved to cook. Everyone loved her cooking. Can you smell those fresh yeast rolls and taste their buttery goodness. Cowboy beans and mashed taters was and is a family favorite. She taxied many a child back and forth to school and always had a warm and safe place to come cuddle when things went bump in the night. She would meet up with her dad to play bingo each week, but her true passion was bowling. She bowled for over 30 years on the "Byrd House" team. She always looked forward to the tournaments. She had so much fun. Usually after bowling and dinner they would all settle back in their room then she would tell stories about her grandparents, and her childhood. Everyone loved her stories from young to old. Sharing precious memories and making new ones. Her love of fishing came from her father and the weekend at Lake Mexia. She passed that love on to her family and its carried on today. In the 70's she became the wife of a preacher man, when her husband answered the call on his life. And boy did they go places for Jesus. Her hope was that all her family would be reunited in Heaven. All in all, Ann, Mom, Meme was a wonderful loving, caring person. She is a lady we will remember and always love.
