Donita Lyn Dusek

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Donita Dusek of Waco, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

 Donita was born on May 18, 1948, in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Clifford and Mary Hirrill.She graduated high school in Jal, New Mexico in 1966, and soon met David Dusek, and they married in Jal on February 17, 1967. They lived in Delaware, California and New Mexico for several years before settling in Abilene, Texas and then later moving to Waco and becoming a member of the Axtell community. She was well known and loved by the people she met and had numerous friends in all the places they lived. After high school she attended cosmetology school and started her career as a hairdresser inspired by her love of keeping up with the trends in hair, makeup and fashion. Upon moving to Abilene, she was a florist at several local shopsand was a manager at S&Q Clothiers, and then worked for JCPenney in Waco for many years and later retired. She enjoyed growing and tending to her plants and flowers, painting and various crafts, antique shopping and collecting memorabilia, and was an avid reader.

 Donita is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Dusek; daughter DeAna Anderson and Wayne, and daughterDarla Thornal and Jeff Enmark; grandchildren Ashton Bourke, Aaron Geisendorff, and Chase, Paige, David, Chastiti and Barrett Thornal, along with five great-grandchildren Lyrah, Leo, JJ, Kazlinn and Naomi. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Miller of Odessa and brother Maxwell Hirrill of Mason, as well as her long-time friend Linda Eaton of Lorena, andnumerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members throughout West Texas and Oklahoma.

 The family is extremely grateful for the excellent care and support from the wonderful staff at Bluebonnet Health Services of Waco. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or animal rescue.
