Mrs. Floyd (Doris) Grier, age 89, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at a local nursing home. A funeral will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jeff Stinson officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Springs Cemetery near Abbott. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Doris was born June 23, 1927 in Penelope, Texas and lived in Hill and McLennan counties all her life. She married Floyd Grier November 15, 1946 in Penelope and he preceded her in death January 18, 2001. She was a homemaker and taught children in Sunday School for many years and was active in her daughter's school activities, serving as Vice President and other offices of the P.T.A. and served as a homeroom mother for many years. Doris loved the Lord and loved to go to church. She was born again when she was eleven years old and lived her life for Jesus after being saved.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Edgar D. Young and a sister, Dorothy Young.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Allen; two sisters in law and several nieces and nephews.
