Dorothy Ann Meador Blackman, 89, of Waco, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, June 20, 2009. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the Chapel at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. David Shuttlesworth officiating Visitation will be 6 to8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at
Bellmead Funeral Home.Burial will be a Waco Memorial Park. Dorothy was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Stampede Valley, near Moody to John A. and Myrtle L. (Wharton) Meador. She was a
graduate of McGregor High School. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years and prior to that ahe attented Emmanuel Baptist Church. She sold Avon for almost
50 years and as a result of her performance, she received every honor available from the company. She was also associated with Home Interiors and Gifts for over 15 years. She had many customers in and around the Waco community that became life long friends. All that knew her knew that her two priorities in life were her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family. She loved the Lord and prayed and read her Bible daily. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She spent most of her life, in one way or another, in service to others. She was preceded in death by her late husband, J. Earl Blackmon. Late in life she was blessed by the companionship of Paul Hopkins, now deceased. He was her friend and soul-mate
in Christ. He was a true blessing to her life as was his family. Survivors include her brother, Bill D. Meador and wife Dorothy of Mountain Home Ark., children, Mike Blackmon and wife Laura of Robinson, John Blackmon and wife Sandra of Garland and Lisa Blackmon Walters and husband
Larry of Waco; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include grandsons, Jeff Walters, John Michael Blackmon, Bryan Blackmon and Austin C. Blackmon; nephews, Keith Meador and David Meador. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Young, Max Jackson and Nathan Stokes.
