Dorothy Boone, 88, of Temple, formerly of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at her residence.Service will be 2:30 Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 26 at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Boone was born December 20, 1920 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Jasper Porter and Ruby Jean (Bullard) Stevenson. She married William C. Boone January 26, 1940 in Mineral Wells. She was a bookkeeper, a member of Eastern Star #980 for 50 years, a former charter member of Bellmead First Baptist Church, a member of the Brazos Valley Chapter of the American Women, the Texas Home Extension AFTC and was on the board of directors at Rosemound Cemetery. She was a current member of Meadow Oaks Baptist Church in Temple. Mrs. Boone was a former employee of the Waco V.A. Hospital, the Bellmead First Baptist Church and retired from the LaVega School District. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and one grandson. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, William C. Boone of Temple, daughter Beth Elaine Shane of Temple, son Bruce Elvis Boone of Temple, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James Young, Allen Wagoner, Tommy Wilkerson, Roland Swank, Mack Anderson and Randy Groff.
