"Junior" was born May 19, 1955 to Ed Roy and Kelleta Garrett in Waco. He was raised in Bellmead and attended La Vega schools. At an early age, he worked alongside his dad in the family concrete business before beginning a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic, working for several large construction companies, and ultimately retiring from McLennan County in 2005. He married Sherry Bridger on April 30, 1976 and they enjoyed nearly 45 years of marriage. Together they raised 3 kids, Keri and twins, James and Amber. While the kids were growing up, he could be found coaching softball teams or working the fields at La Vega Little League. When they became empty nesters, he and Sherry loved going camping, often taking some of the grandkids so he could teach them to fish. He was a lifelong NASCAR and dirt track racing fanatic! In retirement, he spent his days "tinkering" with his model cars, and caring for his dogs, affectionately called, "his girls." He also enjoyed the pastimes of bass fishing and deer hunting. In addition to theses hobbies, he was always fascinated with the weather, from "storm chasing" to keeping us all informed of the forecast.

He was so proud of his family, really "mellowing" when the grandkids came along. When his health allowed, you could find him at baseball or basketball games supporting his grandkids.

He was predeceased by his parents, infant sister Peggy, and infant granddaughter Andi Grace.

He is survived by his wife Sherry Garrett; children Keri, James (Cameron) and Amber; brother, Jerry Garrett (Terresa); grandchildren Kielee McCabe, Gage McCabe, Levi Garrett, Nora Kate Garrett, and Knox Garrett; brother-in-law Fred Bridger (Kim), as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special thank you to the SICU at BSW Hillcrest for the way they cared for Junior during his last days.
