Elbert E. Brown, age 95, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at a Clifton nursing home. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. No visitation is scheduled.Elbert was born August 21, 1920 in Tulare, California. He served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II, stationed in France. He returned to Tulare and opened a service station and a Harley Davidson dealership, and retired from British Petroleum, formerly Arco, before moving to Waco in 1981. He owned the Quickie Food Convenience Store in Bellmead for over 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, Alemeda Brown and Helen Marie Brown; three stepsons, Gilbert, Robert and Joseph Brown, two brothers and two sisters.Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Bauyer and husband Gary; son, Kenneth Brown and wife, Jo Ann; stepdaughters, Leslie Hendrix and husband, David and Donna Palmer and husband, Tom; eight grandchildren and various great grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport Rd., Waco, Texas 76702.
