Elbert "ER" Watson, 87, of Waco, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, in Waco and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. March 17, 2015 at Bellmead Funeral Home with the Rev. Sonny Cathey officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park in Waco. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 16, 2015 also at Bellmead Funeral Home. Born September 19, 1927, in Wortham, Texas, ER was the son of James Ben Watson and Lelia Rebecca Chausse Watson and served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950-53, followed by the Air Force Reserves, and then on to the Army National Guard until he retired. On January 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Joan Banks. For 34 years, ER was employed with Rocketdyne/Hercules, retiring in 1994 as an electronics technician. A devoted husband, father, and grandpa, ER loved his family and grandchildren unconditionally and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Waco. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Joan and siblings Elmo Watson, Bennie Frank Watson, Norma Jean Fisk, and Gladys Lansford. Survivors include son Sam Watson and wife Paula of Robinson; daughter Lisa and husband John Powers of Plano; brother Freddie and wife Maddie Watson of Forest Glade; brother Charles and wife Marjorie Watson of Groesbeck; grandson Derek Watson and wife Savannah of Waco; granddaughter Alyssa and husband Chris Moffett of Waco; granddaughters Kalyn and husband Jack Henkel of Robinson; granddaughters Tyler and Haley Watson of Robinson; great-grandchildren Arianna, Mikaela and Sammie Henkel of Robinson; also two additional great grandchildren anticipated to be born this summer; brother-in-law Charles Banks and wife Edna of Brownwood and numerous nieces and ne phews. The family would like to give a special thanks to the loving caregivers at Sodalis Assisted Living and Bluebonnet Hospice in Waco for making his final time peaceful.
