Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 at the Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Burtchfield of Williams Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Mart Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27 at the funeral home. Ella Jane was born on April 27, 1948 to Hubert and Jean Cox in Tarpon, Virginia. When she was 13-years-old, her family moved from Tennessee to Texas for her father to attend the Fort Worth Baptist Seminary. After completion the family moved to Mart, Texas for her father to further study at Baylor University. They returned to Tennessee upon completion of her father's schooling, but before they left she met Jim Busby, the great love of her life and future husband of 48 years. The following year she and Jim were married at the Spring Grove Union Church of Spring Grove, Virginia on June 11, 1963. They then returned to Mart, Texas where they would begin their life together. Her happiest times were serving in her church teaching Sunday School, Bible School and singing with her beautiful voice and caring for her Jackie. Jane spent most of her professional career at the law offices of Naman Howell Smith & Lee as a legal secretary. She was well-loved and admired by all of her colleagues and very much cherished and enjoyed the time she spent with the firm. To this day she still has many friends from the firm. In 1996, Jane was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer at the age of 48. Even though she spent more than 15 years with this terrible disease, she remained the same calm, loving and optimistic person that she had always been. Through all of the treatments, procedures and difficult times, she was always strong in her faith, ready to face whatever would come next and help whomever she could with her story. Jane was a wonderful inspiration to so many others with whom she shared the bond of dealing with this very difficult and aggressive disease. She finally chose to end this ordeal with cancer at home being cared for by her husband, close family and Scott and White Hospice. Her family respected her wishes and supported her through her time left. She was our life and we will miss her so very much. Ella Jane Cox Busby was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Jean Cox. She is survived by her husband, Jim and their four children, Jackie Busby, Jennifer Kimball, Jason Busby, Jo Ann Chapin; grandchildren Cole Kimball, Paige Kimball, Amanda Pharris, Amy Busby, Rachel Chapin, April Chapin, Jacob Simonek, Wil Chapin and Ken Chapin and her four brothers Ron, Robert, David and Johnny Cox and many nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Don Busby, Clyde Busby, Charles Lunday, Roger Busby, David Cox and Ron Cox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Schaffer and Robert Cox. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Scott and White Hospice, whose nurses made the last days of Jane's life much easier with their words of encouragement, advice and their loving spirits. Many thanks to the members of Williams Creek Baptist Church that provided spiritual food and comfort during this trying time. Thank you all so much. The family also expresses their great gratitude for the professional and personal care given by the Scott & White Hospital Glenda Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center staff, doctors and nurses whom have been a part of our lives every week for these many years of treatment. God bless you all. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
