Ernesdine Blankenship McCorkle, 85, of Waco, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 8, at a local nursing home, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be 11 am Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the funeral home. Ernesdine was born August 15, 1929 in Mart, Texas to Fred and Mittie Blankenship. She married Walter McCorkle on March 16, 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Danny McCorkle; grandson, Kevin Davis; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters. Survivors include her son, David McCorkle and wife, Dorothy of China Spring; daughters, Dianna Davis and husband, Willard of Lorena, Judy Gommert and husband, David of Temple and Deidra Kroll and husband, Glen of Hewitt; daughter-in-law, Cathy McCorkle of Robinson; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and another great-great grandson on the way. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Ernesdine will be remembered for her hospitality and her wonderful meals she prepared for family and friends. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for the loving care they provided to Ernesdine in her last days.
