Everett Edsol January Jr., 82, of Bellmead, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at a local nursing home. Private family services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Bellmead Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Wilkerson and Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Monday, Dec. 15 at the funeral home. Edsol was born December 31, 1931 in Waco to Everett and Pauline (Pringle) January. He graduated from La Vega High School where he excelled in all sports and later graduated from Tarlton University where he received a scholarship in football. He married Rita Breeding on January 27, 1954, during which time he was serving in the Army in the Korean War. Edsol also helped to start the La Vega Little League where he served as President of the League for several years. His most proud accomplishment was with the Waco Police Department for approximately 35 years. Retiring with rank of Captain. During those years he graduated from the FBI Academy. Edsol also taught Criminal Justice at MCC and Graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of Oak Lawn Baptist Church and was an avid Golfer who won the Waco Senior League Championship in 2005. He was always building or repairing his home. Edsol was a good craftsman, a trade he had learned from his father. He was more than willing to help anyone with whatever they needed and was always a good father and grandfather. Edsol was Rita's best friend and they were the love of each others life.He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son Jackie. Survivors include his wife, Rita; daughter Anne Burns; son, Steve January and wife, Alice; 4 grandsons, Brian Burns, Aaron Burns and wife, Tiffany, Brandon January and wife, Megan and Blake January; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Sissy Purvis and husband, Dub of Arlington, Aidene Myrow and husband, Ken of Alvarado and Yvonne Moulton of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Melvin January and wife, Mary of McKinney and Michael January of Waco; along with his dog, Molly. The family would like to give special thanks to the Crestview Nursing Home and Providence Hospice for their loving care and support.
