Floyd Lee Williams, 87, of Waco, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his family on February 21, 2012 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 24 at Rosemound Cemetery with Pastor George Meeks officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 23 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Floyd was born October 26, 1924 in Waco to Emmitt and Virginia (Summey) Williams. He join the Air Force, at Old Blackland Training Air Force Base in Waco, and went to Boling Air Force Base, in Washington, D.C. Floyd later joined the Army during WWII, and saw action right along with General Patton, in the "Battle Of The Bulge", carrying his two pearl handled pistol's. During his time in the services, Floyd was awarded the Distinguished Medal Of Honor; Good Conduct Medal; a Purple Heart; and a Marksman Medal. He was a sniper and sharp shooter, and volunteered for 3 "no man's land" missions. After the War, Floyd worked at General Tire for many years. To his family and War buddy's, Floyd was a real Hero. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, James. Survivors include his sister, Mary Williams of Waco; brother, Arthur Williams and wife, Audrey of Elm Mott; daughter, Sharlett Y. and husband Clifford C. Wooley of Midlothian, 3 grandchildren, Shiela Coffee, Lisa Andrus and Wesley Wooley; 5 great grandchildren, Robert Coffee, Patrick Coffee, Britney Wooley, Cierra Wooley and Alyssa Wooley. Floyd loved to kick around a football and is probably already asking his Savior, if he wants to kick the football with him.
