Francis P. Compton-Douthit, 85, of Waco, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 after suffering a stroke. Funeral service will be held at 10 am Saturday, December 27 at Concord Baptist Church, 4412 Concord Road, Bellmead, Texas with Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday, December 26, 2014 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Francis was born on February 3, 1929 in Delia, Texas to the late John Luther and Alice Lillian Compton. She was a lifelong member of Concord Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary and treasurer for 25 years. She also worked as the store manager at Career Girl Dress Store for 10 years, James Connally Air Force Base Exchange and Montgomery Ward. Francis married the love of her life, Mac Douthit after writing letters to each other during World War II. Upon his return from the war, they were married in Coolidge, Texas after only two dates on May 25, 1947. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years; her parents; brothers, Elton Compton and Johnny Lee Compton; nephews, Steven Adler, Michael Compton and Ricky Compton; brothers-in-law, Alton Adler, Connie Douthit, Marion Douthit and Arthur Douthit. She was also preceded by her precious great-grandson, Brennan Roy Trussell. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Trussell and husband, Roy of Waco; granddaughter, Tracy Trussell-Moore and husband, Andy of Chalk Bluff; grandson, Brian Trussell and wife, Valetta of Robinson; great grandchildren, Braden Trussell, Brason Trussell, Kaitlyn Reed and husband, R. J., and Macey Moore; sisters, Nelda Adler and Lorene Compton both of Bellmead; brother, Joe Compton and wife, Ruby of Coolidge; sisters-in-law, Mary Compton and Jean Compton both of Waco; numerous nieces and nephews all of which she loved dearly. Pallbearers will be Brian Trussell, Braden Trussell, Brason Trussell, Andy Moore, John Adler and Dale Weiss. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Concord Baptist Church, Roy Trussell, Jim Kreder, Ron Wiley and Gene Adams. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Bull, Dr. Jon Ellis, Dr. Michael Loden, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center and Bluebonnet Health Services for their excellent care and support.
