Freda was born July 31, 1937, in Dallas County, to Newton & Mary Lillie (Moore) Pendley. She graduated from La Vega High School in 1957, earned an Associate's Degree in Business from McLennan Community College and completed night classes at Tarleton State University. She was married to Louis Jean Haak for 59 years until he passed away on December 20, 2013.

Freda worked outside the home while going to school, raising a family and maintaining a home. She started with Safeway (1957), then worked at HEB, Duncan Truck Sales, and Barsh Construction before working at the City of Waco, where she retired in 1998 after 23 years of service. After retiring, Freda and Louis moved to Junction, Texas to manage a game ranch. They returned to Waco and helped, part-time, to manage a hunting ranch in Coleman, Texas. Freda became a devoted caregiver for Louis until his passing. At 78 years young, she started Bible courses at the New Road Bible Institute. She took 2 courses each semester and completed the program in the spring of 2023, at the age of 85.

Freda was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. She was a life-time member of the Church of Christ, worshiping at Columbus Avenue, Timber Crest and finally at Northside Church of Christ. She was a daily Bible reader, Bible student and Prayer Warrior. She also loved music and the Texas Hill Country, especially the Bluebonnets and wildflowers. She found great joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.
Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Jean Haak, her parents, Newton & Mary Lillie Pendley, one brother, Johnnie Pendley & his wife Beverly, a brother-in-law Billy Joe Haak & his wife Anna as well as a daughter in law, June Haak, and brother-in-law Steve January.
Survivors include a brother, Larry Pendley & his wife Paulette of Waco, sister Alice January of Waco, her brother-in law, Gerald Haak & his wife Mary Linda of Harlingen, ,Freda's son, Louis J Haak and his wife, Deanna, her daughter, Vicki Haak Humphrey and her husband, Albert, two grandsons and their wives, Clinton & Brandi Humphrey of Weatherford and Brent & Kelly Humphrey of Virginia Beach, VA. Freda was blessed with bonus grandchildren, Alexandria & Brett Bakhsh, Meagan & Preston Rieger and Tyler Record, all of Waco. She had five great grandchildren, Savannah, Kennedy & Austin Humphrey of Virginia Beach, VA and Hudson & Addalyn Humphrey of Weatherford, TX. She has four bonus great grandchildren, Kallie and Kaden Bakhsh of Waco and Blakely & David Rieger of Waco as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
