Garland Edward Franklin, 84, of Riesel, passed away Monday, September 13 at his residence. Graveside services will be 11 am Thursday, Sept. 16 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Brock Ratcliff officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, Sept. 15 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Garland was born April 23, 1926 in Farrar, Texas and graduated from Riesel High School. He served in the Navy during WWII, owned and operated Franklin Plumbing in Waco, worked in the Dairy business at Watt, Texas and volunteered with the Texas Baptist Men's Association. He was a 60 year Mason with the Prairie Hill Masonic Lodge #741. Garland was preceded in death by his wife Marie Franklin in 2007, his son Ronnie Franklin, his granddaughter Tanya Pattison, 1 brother and 5 sisters. Survivors include his daughter Brenda Haak and husband Bob of Oregon; son Sidney Franklin of Riesel; 4 grandchildren Elizabeth Shockley, Kimberly Harwell, Drusilla Carpenter and Lirenda Haak; 6 great grandchildren Kacie, Bailey, Brooke, Samuel, Matthew and Kershia and several nieces and nephews.
