Gary Edward Ryther 52 of Lacy Lakeview passed away Friday June 5 at his residence. Services will be 10 am Wednesday June 10 at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at 4 pm at Ebenezer Cemetery near Gonzales, TX. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday June 9 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Gary was born October 8, 1956 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Carl Felix and Frances Jean (Kelley) Ryther. He attended Murree Christian School in Murree Pakistan and in 1976 he graduated from Kodaikanal International School of Tamil Nadu, India while his parents were serving as missionaries in Bangladesh. He then attended and received the degree of Associate of Applied Science, Instructional Media Technology, from Texas State Technical Institute. Gary worked for Dealers Electric over 30 years and was a proud member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church were he loved singing in the choir and attended the International Sunday School Class. He spent many hours working and volunteering at Alcoholics Anonymous, Habitat for Humanity and Fuzzy Friends Rescue. He was also a regular donor at Carter Blood Bank. Gary knew many people and had numerous friends who will miss him dearly. His was preceded in death by his father, 3 aunt and 4 uncles. Survivors include his mother Frances Jean Ryther of Lacy Lakeview, sister, Carla Vander Zaag and husband Peter of Alliston, Ontario, brothers Joel Ryther of Sunnyvale, California and Timothy Ryther of Lacy Lakeview, aunts Novella Patterson, Janette Parrott, Grace McElory and Velma Becker, uncles, James Kelley, Steen Kelley, William Ryther and Robert Ryther, nieces and nephews Andy, Rhonda, Jeanan, Ruth, Nick, Oscar, Olivier and Odile.
