Geneva Waldrop Haas Dickson passed from this life after 93 years on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. After walking many steps on this earth, she is now walking the streets of gold with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Geneva had been involved in a lengthy battle with failing health and dementia. She had been a guest of Arbor House in Temple since 2009. Graveside services will be 1 pm Saturday, May 10 at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 9 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Geneva Lucille Waldrop was born in Waco, Texas on September 26, 1920 to Tom C. and Fannie Waldrop. One of three children, she had a brother Tom Jr., who preceded her in death and a sister Dorothy Runnels of the Woodlands, Texas. Geneva graduated from La Vega High School in Bellmead, Texas in 1937. She married Leslie A. Haas in Victoria, Texas on July 20, 1940. After 26 years of marriage he died an untimely death in 1966. She and Leslie had four boys, Leslie Haas Jr. and wife, Sherry of Salado, Texas, Tom K. and wife, Cathy of Atlanta, Ga., Wayne D. of Temple, Texas and Steven L. and wife, Sue of Goldwaithe, Texas. After raising her boys through early childhood, Geneva returned to Baylor University to finish her degree and to get a teaching certificate. Her lifelong desire and goal was to be a school teacher. She taught school in Waco ISD, La Vega ISD and Gholson ISD before retiring in 1989. After Leslie died, Geneva met Wallace Dickson at Grace Temple Baptist Church and married him in 1972. Wallace had two children, Wallace Jr. and wife, Laurel of San Antonio, Texas and Linda Canfield and husband, Wayne of Birmingham, Alabama. After 33 years of marriage Wallace preceded her in death in 2005. Geneva lived a long and full life, enjoying her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She has asked for years why God would not take her home; she will not have to ask anymore. The family wishes to thank the Arbor House in Temple and Southern Care Hospice for all their devotion and care of Geneva.
