George E. Pauling Jr., 85, of Waco, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Services will be 11 am Saturday, Nov. 28 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Shane Pruitt officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Blue Ridge Cemetery near Marlin, Texas. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 pm Friday, Nov. 27 at the funeral home.George was born November 7, 1930 in Marlin, Texas to George Sr. and Rosella (Woodland) Pauling. He graduated from Marlin High School in 1948. He served in the Navy, the Air Force, the Army and the National Guard until retiring as a Major after 21 years of service. He worked for the Waco Tribune-Herald until retiring, and was a Rural Letter Carrier for over 30 years. George was very active with the Southern Little League, coaching his sons early on, teaching the official score keeping class and being an official score keeper for the State Little League Regional Championships for over 40 years. He also held many positions including President several times of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 66 and was on the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home Board of Directors for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terry Pauling and a brother, James Pauling.Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sue Pauling of Waco; his son, David Pauling and wife, Brenda of Allen; his daughter, Trish Holder-Guidroz of Waco; sister, Janet Fairman of Marlin; brother, Connie Pauling and wife, Vonnie of Bryan; sister-in-law, Louise Pauling of San Antonio; grandchildren, Brad Pauling and wife, Sandi of Plano, Brent Pauling and wife, Marisol of Wylie, Tanner Guidroz, Trenton Guidroz and Tristean Huffman all of Waco; great grandchildren, Sam and Kaitlyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.George was a kind, patient and loving husband, father and pawpaw who will be truly missed.
