Gertrude Elizabeth (Davis) Pryor, 88, of Waco, passed away Monday Dec. 5 at her residence. Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, Dec. 8 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mrs. Pryor was born November 5, 1923 in Thornton, Texas to Gary and Erma (Cox) Davis. She married Earl Pryor Jr. on December 13, 1941 in Waco and was employed at Cox's Department Store from 1966 until they closed in May 1995. She was very active in the P.T.A. the whole time all three of her children were in school and was presented a Life Membership to the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers in 1964 by Bells Hill Elementary School. Elizabeth was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for 53 years until it closed in 2003 and then joined Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She loved her family, her home and enjoyed working in her yard while physically able. Mrs. Pryor was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; son David Pryor in 1986; mother Erma Rickman in 1995; father Gary Davis in 1949; and brother Peyton Davis in 1970. Survivors include her daughter Martha Holt of Lorena; son Larry Pryor and wife Nancy of Bellmead; brother John Davis of Dickinson, TX; grandsons Ricky Pryor and wife Laura of SC and Scott Holt and wife Lesia of Lorena; granddaughters Kimberly Holt and Fianc� Michael of Waco and Sherri LeBoeuf and husband Daryl of Speegleville; and 7 great grandchildren. Mrs. Pryor wanted to be remembered as it is written in Proverbs 31:26-27, "She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness."
