Gladys Mae Johnson, 74, of Chalk Bluff, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Services will be 2:30 pm Friday, May 22, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, May 21, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Gladys was born April 9, 1941 in Lott, Texas to Homer Edward and Albina (Wetzel) Prokisch. She attended La Vega Schools and was a Beautician for several years. After receiving her LVN License, she worked at Dr. Amar's office 28 years until retiring. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her dogs and enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Graceland and crocheting and painting. She won many awards from the Heart Of Texas Fair for her crafts. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; and her husband, Joe W. Johnson. Survivors include her children, Brenda Dolezal and husband, Larry Sr. of Hewitt, Janet Bigham of Lacy Lakeview, Ginger Wood and husband, David of Wichita Falls, Carrie Gibbs of Saginaw, Laurie Watkins and husband, Lonnie of Waco and Gene-O Ray of New Braunfels; her sisters, Doris Dunn of Seguin, Lucy Finn and husband, Donald of Robinson, Shirley Miller of Granbury and Patsy Ferrell; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers will be her son and grandsons.
