Glenn Whatley, 74, of Waco, passed away Friday, October 18 in Groesbeck. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, October 22 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Masonic Rites will be conducted under the auspices of Waco Masonic Bodies at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday, October 21 at the funeral home. Glenn was born November 19, 1938 in Hubbard, Texas to Otis and Leona (Lillard) Whatley. He owned Glenn Whatley Catering, during which time he served two Presidents, did the catering/ food service to two movies "Ethan Frome" and "The River Flows North" while in Vermont. He was an Honorary Texas Ranger and helped sponsor the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. Glenn helped design and build the original Brazos Queen. He was a 32rd Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rites and past Director of Royal Order of Jesters. Glenn was a member of the Fidelis Masonic Lodge # 1127. He served in the National Guard for 8 years, and was selected Best Soldier during 1958 summer camp at Fort Hood, Texas. He owned the fastest 1957 Chevy in Waco in 1957. Glenn was a kind gentle man, with a truly good heart that loved his animals and took his Masonic values to heart. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family and loved us all very much, including his smallest kids, Scrappy and Levi, who both miss their Dad. Survivors include his wife Resa (Smith) Whatley of Groesbeck; his mother, Leona Whatley of Austin; sons, Rick Whatley and wife, Karen and Brian Whatley and wife, Tonya all of Tyler; sister, Peggy Lemanski and husband, Benny of Georgetown; and grandchildren, Brandon Whatley, Jordan Whatley, Parker Whatley, Graciella Whatley and Serena Whatley.
