Harold Otto Jander, 84, of Axtell, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30 at a local rehab center. Services will be 2 pm Sunday, May 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Byars officiating. Burial will be 10 am Monday, May 6, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 pm Saturday, May 4, at Bellmead Funeral Home. Harold was born February 7, 1929 in Falls County to Adolph and Lena (Kuretsch) Jander. He was a machinist at General Tire & Rubber Co. for 30 years until retiring. After retirement he worked as a carpenter for 14 years at Laborers for Christ, helping to build 21 churches around the country. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Harold and Lucille were avid square and round dance club members. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Jander; sons, Duane Jander and wife, Sherri of Lago Vista and Donald Jander and wife, Melissa of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law, Dorothy Curry of Riesel; grandchildren, Richard Alan Jander, Bradley Kyle Jander, Neal Jander and Russell Jander; and great grandchildren, Austin Kyle Jander, Ried Alan Jander and Ella Grace Jander. Pallbearers will be, Richard, Bradley, Russell and Phillip Jander, Dennis Schmidthorst and Gary Lehrmann. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Thursday Morning Landscaping Crew of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
