Herbert Hilton Havis
Born January 28, 1930 outside of Hubbard, TX. The delivering doctor arrived on horseback in the snow. He was the second of eight children of Willie Dee and Essie Gladney Havis. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1947.
On December 31, 1950, he married the love of his life, Peggy Sue Lynch in the parsonage at Axtell Baptist Church.
He retired from his civil service career as a property administrator for the Department of Defense in 1995. Following this, Hilton and Peggy operated an antique business where he honed his skills in carpentry work - a hobby and art form he cherished.
Hilton was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco. He was a devout follower of Christ and was active in many ministries throughout his life.
Survived by daughter Debra Harris and husband Stanley of Axtell, son Timothy and wife Michelle of Lansing, MI, granddaughter Kristin Sandlin and husband Dustin of Pottsboro, great grandsons Bryson and Lincoln Sandlin. Sisters Essie Dee Huse of Tyler and Mary Schronk of Waco.
Predeceased by wife Peggy Sue, brothers Eugene Dalton, Donald (Jack), Kenneth, Danny and sister Leatrice Motley.
