J. C. Rappe, 84, of Bellmead, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday Dec. 18, 2012. Services will be 2 pm Friday, December 21, at Oak Lawn Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, December 20 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Col. Rappe was born July 18, 1928 in Taylor, Texas to Jewel and Josie Rappe. He married Nita Fay Maynard on November 20, 1948. After graduating from LaVega High School, he joined the Marine Corps and served 36 and a half years. During his service, he served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Grenada conflicts. He received a battlefield commission while in Korea and returned as a Lieutenant. He earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Luther Rice College while in the military and retired in 1982 as a Colonel. In 1984, he joined the District Attorneys office in Waco as a criminal investigator after graduating with top honors from the police academy. Col. Rappe was also proud of being a Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Nita Rappe; daughter, Donna Ansari; son, David Rappe and wife, Davis; daughter, Susan Sides; and son, Joseph Rappe and wife, Tonya; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. The family is so grateful for the love and care given by the staff of Southern Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Oak Lawn Baptist Church or Southern Care Hospice.
