James Carlton Johansen, 85, of Bellmead, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014. Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 16 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey Crenshaw officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calm Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, Feb. 15 at the funeral home. James was born November 14, 1928 in Hubbard, Texas to Carl and Maggie (Bryant) Johansen. He farmed and ranched in his early years and was the Maintenance Foreman at Waco Center for Youth until retiring and worked as a custodian at LaVega ISD until retiring. James was the Mayor of Mt. Calm, the Fire Chief of Mt. Calm Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Mt. Calm Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors at Mt. Antioch Cemetery Association. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Kelm of Waco; sons, Ronnie Johansen and wife, Linda of Valley Mills and Danny Johansen and wife Cindy of San Antonio; brother, Royce Johansen of Wharton, Texas; 5 granddaughters; and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be, David Crow, James Crow, Jon Seamanski, Seth Seamanski, Frank Toomey and Dylan Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Mackey McCaghren and Jay Teakell.
