James Edgar Birdwell, 88 of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Tuesday, September 3 at a local hospital. Graveside services with Military Honors will be 10 am Saturday, September 7, at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, September 6, at Bellmead Funeral Home. James was born December 16, 1924 in Nashville, Tennessee to Willie and Jessie Birdwell. He served in the Air Force until retiring with over 21 years of service. He also was a retired truck driver for Central Freight Lines. James was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Loreta Birdwell in 1988. Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Hall and husband, Bruce of Lacy Lakeview; grandchildren, Ashley Merritt and husband, Clayton of Waco and Lesley Ferguson of Lacy Lakeview; great grandchild, Zoie Merritt; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
