James Lawson Tucker "Granddad" 88 of Mt. Calm went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2009. Services will be 2 pm Wednesday Oct. 21at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will be at Billington Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday Oct. 20 at the Funeral Home. J. L. was born March 1, 1921 in Mart, TX to Joseph and Lou Myrtle Tucker, he married the love of his life Mary Imogene Brown on Nov. 23, 1940 and together they raised 6 children of their own and 250 foster children. He was a Master Mason with the Grand Lodge of Texas #741 in Prairie Hill, an aircraft machinist, worked at Gross-Yowell, retired from Certain-teed and spent the rest of his life on Salt Creek Ranch in Billington enjoying family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary "Nannie" Tucker, brothers Morris, Kenneth and Joseph Tucker, sister Elna Cunningham and grandsons Craig, John, Nathan and Michael. Survivors include his daughters Barbara Scheler of Axtell, Jan Simons and husband Randy of Speegleville, sons Jimmy Tucker and wife Debbie, Kenny Tucker and wife Glenda, Mike Tucker and Joe Tucker and wife Shelly all of Mt. Calm, brother Thomas Tucker and wife Maxine of Mathis, sister June Davis and husband Lewis of Leroy, sisters-in-law Virginia Brown of Mart, Sally Tucker of Mt. Calm and Sandra Tucker of Godly, 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons Kyle, Jeff, Kenny, Billy, David, Jason, Jimmy-Ray, Cory and Johnny Ray. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine's, Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Calm Baptist Church Youth Department.
