James Price

James E. Price of China Spring passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Providence Hospital surrounded by family and friends. James was born November 8, 1950 to Jennie Marie (Andrews) and James Edger Price in the Thornton/Groesbeck area. James grew up in Waco and went to various elementary schools and graduated the class of 1970 from University High School. James caught the eye of his future bride Evelyn Tankersley at the skating rink in Waco, something they loved to do together. James and Evelyn married December 2, 1972 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco.

They had two children, James C. (Jimmy) Price and Carrie J. Price that kept them busy and on the go all the time. In 2003 they had their first grandchild, Alyssa Caroline Watkins and a second one in 2008, Ayden Hunter Watkins. James was very crazy over the moon about them two. Not to forget his furry babies, Jenny (Jen Jen), Suszie (Tooder). Those dogs could do no wrong.

James was a talker. Mama always said he could talk to a fence post if it would talk back. James worked hard 40 years for Waco ISD as a groundskeeper. He could make a football or baseball field look flawless.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Price; father, James Price; grandparents, Jesse and Verie Andrews and C. A. and Leonora Price; brothers, Cois (Bud) Price, Paul Finch, John Charles Finch,; niece, Sheila Finch; sister in law, Bonnie Price; brother in law, Jimmy Dale Pettit; father in law, Billy C. Tankersley; brother in law, Billy Joe Tankersley.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn Price. It would have been 52 years this December. Son, Jimmy Price of China Spring; daughter, Carrie Watkins and husband, Danny Watkins of Valley Mills; granddaughter, Alyssa Watkins and boyfriend, Jacob Rogers, grandson, Ayden Watkins, all of Valley Mills; brother, Eston Price of Lorena; sisters, Sheila Pettit of Portland, Tn., and Paula Finch of Waco; sister in law, Doris Price of Waco; mother in law, Pauline Tankersley of West; sister in law, Carol Waters of Robinson; also many loved nieces and nephews and some very close friends.

A visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday October 16, 2024 at Bellmead Funeral Home with the rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 17, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Father Joseph F. Geleney, Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ayden Price, Brian Price, Jacob Rogers, Danny Watkins, Rodney Price, Jacob Rogers and Buddy Kaska.
