James Ray Kemp, 85, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25 at his residence. Services will be 10 am Friday, Jan. 27 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Arnett officiating. Burial will be at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, Jan. 26 at the funeral home. Mr. Kemp was born March 9, 1926 in Rowlett, Texas to Frank and Allie (Fitzhugh) Kemp. He was a lifetime resident of Waco and served in the Navy. Mr. Kemp worked as a maintenance supervisor at Texas Textile Mills, L. L. Sam's and Buchanan Laundry. He opened Kemps Drive Inn Grocery in 1963 and retired in 1990. Mr. Kemp was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Rosalie Gray Kemp; and 4 brothers. He leaves behind his wife, Virgie Kemp; sons, Grady Kemp, Ray Kemp, Ronney Kemp and Scooter Kalka; his daughters Patsy Lynn Skinner, Gail Lauderdale, Doris Reeves and Kathy Evans; 2 sisters; special friend Don Harlan; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be, Josh Reeves, Ray Kemp Jr., Gary Wornat, Travis DeLeon, Cory Kemp and Shelby Haggerton.
