Jesse Parnell "J.P." Money, 85, passed away Monday, April 23 at his residence. A funeral Mass will be 2 pm Saturday, April 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Bellmead. Rosary will be 7 pm Friday, April 27 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Mr. Money was born October 4, 1926, in Matoy, Oklahoma to Jesse Prather and Clara Rowena (Scalf) Money. He graduated from Matoy High School and served as a Corporal in the Army during WWII where he received the American Theater Ribbon, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He married Virginia Lynn Douglas in September 1948 and they enjoyed 52 years together. Mr. Money worked for Texas Power and Light, as a Lineman from 1947-1971, a Forman from 1971-1975 and as an Assistant Superintendent from 1975-1987 until retiring after 40 years of service. He resided in Sulphur Springs from 1975 to 1993 until returning to Waco. Mr. Money was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Counsel 7202 for over 25 years and was a life member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Thoroughbred Association. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Bellmead. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 2 sisters and 1 brother. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Money and Don Carter; his sons, Curtis Wayne Money and wife, Debra, Douglas Prather Money and wife, Debbie and Rudy Money and wife, Marsha; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; grandchildren, Donna Carter, Donna Reynolds & Allen, Linda Duff & Harold "Scooby" Due, Jane Carter, Douglas Carter, Jennifer Minter & Ron, Kelly Money & Jennifer, Rebecca Money, Justin Money, Ashley Becknauld & Sean, and Christopher Money; 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Maxine McCafferty and family, Marie Cox and Robert "Chigger" and Patsy Webb and family. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Bellmead.
