Jim "Chainsaw" Powell, 91, of West, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at a local nursing home. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 at Bold Spring Cemetery with Doyle Ware officiating. Jim was born July 11.1920 in Lewisville, TX. to John and Nanny (Connaway) Powell. Jim served in the Air Force during World War II and received the American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal World War II. He retired from the Waco V.A. Medical Center., was a member of the West Rodeo Club, provided the band at West Rest Haven Health Care Center for 20 years, and was also in the Black Powder Band. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Margaret Fay Powell in 2007. Survivors include his daughter, Connie Powell Havill and husband Jerry of Michigan; sons, Jimmy Powell and wife Brenda of McKinney, TX. and Ronnie Powell and wife Gene of Waco; grandchildren, Gary and wife Kitty, Teri and husband Tim, Brian and wife Kim, Tonya and husband Mike, Billy and wife Cindy, James and wife Becky, Melisa and husband Ricky, Aaron and wife Courtney and Paul; Several great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
