Joe Leo Wachsmann, 82, of Bellmead, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Adams officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Corsicana. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 4 at the funeral home. Joe was born May 13, 1929, in Leroy, Texas to Leopold and Anna (Ahlbach) Wachsmann was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was a Mason. Joe retired from Gifford and Hill after 42 years of service and was a very dedicated and caring employee who worked hard all his life. He was full of joy, always had a smile on his face and was a very caring and wonderful person who always took time for others. Joe's passion was cars, he was the happiest when he was in his shop working on and restoring them. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters and going to swap meets. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie (Scruggs) Wachsmann; son, Don Scruggs and his wife, Mildred; sisters, Anna Zanter and Hattie Williams; and a brother, Andrew Wachsmann. Survivors include his granddaughters, Lorri Zeiders and husband Robert, Donna Cox and husband Gene Cohen, and Stacy Butts and husband George all of NJ; 5 great grandchildren, Wesley, Katherine and Charlie Zeiders and Abigail and William Butts; sisters, Margaret Schroeder and Estella Wright both of Bellmead; sister-in-law, Georgia Wachsmann of Elm Mott; brothers, Pete Wachsmann of Waco, Leo Wachsmann and wife, Margaret of Ennis, George Wachsmann and wife Rose Merry of Red Oak and Bill Wachsmann and wife Clara Nell of West; many Nieces, Nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and loving care giver, Joyce Land. Pallbearers will be, John Zanter, Sr., Sammy Wachsmann, Jerry Richards, Mitchell Wachsmann, Todd Wachsmann, and Leonard Christensen. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Roy Trussell, Pedro Castillo and Leonard Christensen. The family would like to express thanks to Joe's sister, Estella who took care of him for 2 years until her health failed and a special Thank you to his caregivers, Joyce, Rodrick, Monica and Maxine.
