Ed was born April 9, 1938 in Warren, Ohio to Joseph Edward
Mason, Sr. and Elizabeth (Elliott) Mason. He attended school in Newton Falls
and worked on the family's dairy farm.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to
1961. While in the Marine Corps he
obtained his GED as well as trained as a United States Naval Underwater
Diver. After his military service, he
lived in Detroit, Michigan where he worked for the Chrysler Corporation. Upon his return to Texas, he owned and
operated the Texaco station in Robinson.
In his spare time, he built and raced cars at the dirt track in Elm
Mott. He also obtained his pilot's license to fly small single engine planes.
In the early 1970s, he opened, owned and operated Mason's Wrecker Service in
Robinson. He built it into Mason's
Wrecker Service and Salvage Pool. He
continued this successful business until his retirement in the mid-1990s. Upon
his retirement, he stayed busy on his farm near Golinda and even spent some
time digging for Jesse James' gold.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elizabeth
(Betty) Elliott; and a brother, Thomas Mason.
He is survived by two brothers, John Edward Mason and wife,

Ed Mason was a hardworking man who prided himself on hard
work and providing for his family. He taught
his children the value of hard work and responsibility. He was also the first person anyone would
call if they needed something. He was
the kind of person that was always willing to lend a hand and would give you
the shirt off his back. He was also
quite fond of storytelling and sharing the latest jokes with anyone he
met. He definitely never met a stranger.
He was loved and will be missed.
