Jud Earl Woodruff "Sim" Sr., passed away Monday November 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday November 13, 2020 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff. Visitation (Come and Go) will be from 6-8:00 pm Thursday November 12, 2020 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Jud was the first born to Jud H. and Rachel Holder Woodruff on July 2, 1929 in Ben Hur, Teaxs. He was educated at Lorena Schools. Jud was a member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church for many years. He was a member of The Baylor Masonic Lodge Post # 1235 for 62 years and was also a member of Scottish Rite. Mr Woodruff worked and retired from Texas Dept of Transportation after 28 years. He also worked for Hillcrest Hospital taking patience to get x-rays, also worked at M+M Mars, and Walmart as a greeter. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus and giving out candy to children. Jud and his brother Clifton "Tot" along with 25 other people put up money and started Chalk Bluff Water System. Jud also donated several gallons of blood a year to American Red Cross. He had a deep respect for women and was a very generous person. Jud was so proud to give his kids land so they could build their homes on. He won several ribbons for entries at the Heart of Texas Fair. Jud is preceded in death by his parents, son Jud Jr., daughter Audrey Abel, sisters Mary Hicks, Laura Smiley, brothers Richard and Clifton Woodruff, 3 nephews Don Smiley, Jim Woodruff, Jerry Woodruff, niece Wanda Woodruff Gastelum, In-laws, J.B. and Vanita Hawkins, Boyd, Bill, Brian and Benny Hawkins, Billy Sharp and a nephew Jeff Hawkins. Jud has a lot of people waiting on him in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Barbara Woodruff, daughters, Patricia Rutherford and her husband Tommy and Gloria Woodruff, sister, Louise Sharp, grandchildren, Carrie, Amanda, Angie, Tommy, Jud III, and Matthew, great grandchildren, Collin, Jonathan, Racheal, Abby, Josh, and Nikki, great great grandchildren, Tori, Maddison, Livi, Dewie and Elizabeth. A special thanks from the family goes to Dr. Timothy Schiller for many years of kindness and care and also to the Providence Hospice Care Team. Family would also like to thank the friends from Homestead Heritage for their many visits, prayers, food, and the beautiful music.
