Mildred Kay Sparkman, 66, of Garland, passed away Thursday, November 15, after an arduous battle with Leukemia (AML). Memorial services will be 3 pm Friday, Nov. 23, at Perry Methodist Church in Perry, Texas. Kay was born November 14, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas to Q. T. and Helen (Borders) Ingram. She worked for Target for 20 years, and she always volunteered to assist with new store openings and even went to Louisiana to help with recovery after hurricane Katrina. Before that, Kay was a caring beautician for nearly 30 years in Garland. She raised 3 children: 2 sons and a daughter, 4 grand-daughters, several dogs, and most recently tended to her chickens and garden. She canned mouthwatering stewed tomatoes and grape jelly. Her tomatoes always overflowed the garden. Survivors include her husband, James Sparkman of Garland; daughter, Deborah Alm and husband, Nelson of Otto; sons, Shawn Sparkman of Perry and Christopher Sparkman of Garland; and 4 granddaughters.
