Laura was born October 27, 1958, in Fredericksburg Texas to Clarence and Geraldine (Stevenson) Goebel.
She graduated from Temple High School in 1977. She moved to Austin TX in 1980.
Laura and I met that year at the San Antonio Rose Country Dance Club in Austin along with her friend Paula and my friend Wade. When I entered the club that night, I noticed her and her big, beautiful smile. I was smitten. We talked and danced all night and we've been together ever since.
She moved back to Temple, TX while I went to TSTI in Waco, TX in 1983. We got engaged on Christmas day 1983. Laura and I were married August 10, 1985. We moved to New Orleans, LA where she attended the University of New Orleans. We then moved to Falls Church, VA to work in Washington DC. Laura completed her college education at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and graduated with honors on May 19, 1990. In 1992 we moved back to Austin, TX and began working for the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission and later transferred to the Texas Department of Health and Human resources.
Over the years, Laura gave birth to our wonderful and beautiful boys Casey in 1996, and Chris in 2000.
Laura enjoyed doing needlepoint, cross stitch, and other crafts. She also enjoyed teaching children's Sunday school and working as a volunteer to raise money for various charities. Her greatest joy was raising and playing with her children and watching them grow.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents
She is survived by her husband, Glenn H. Wendell, Jr., sons, Casey S. Wendell, and Christopher B. Wendell of Bellmead, TX and her sisters Rhonda Rucker of Temple TX and Sharon Hobbs of Lometa, TX
