Leslye Lee Owen, 76, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, June 7 in a Houston hospital. Memorial services will be 1 pm Saturday, June 18 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken James officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, June 18 before the service at the funeral home. Leslye Owen was born August 2, 1934 in San Benito, Texas the only child of Leslie and Opal (Elam) Keys both of Arkansas. She graduated from high school in San Benito and worked for GMAC credit union in Harlingen. It was there she met Bill Owen who was in the Air Force and they married August 2, 1958. They had two daughters, Dawn and Dana. Mrs. Owen received her BBA degree from Hardin Simmons University in 1966. For 20 years, Leslye traveled the United States and Germany with her immediate family while her husband was in the Air Force. She was an employee at the Baylor Law Library from 1977 to 1982. She was a member of Martha's Girls and a Quilting circle formed at Bellmead First Baptist Church. Leslye was also a member of Neighbors International Program and the Sanctuary Sunday School class of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, quilter, animal lover and letter writer. She was a beloved and loyal companion, a devoted wife, Mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband Bill of Bellmead; daughters Dawn Owen Kantor and husband Michael of Jenkintown, PA and Dana Owen Pill and husband Robert of Nashua, NH; and 6 grandchildren between the ages of 7 to 23. The family requests that memorials be made to Bible Study Fellowship International, Fuzzy Friends or Samaritan's Purse in lieu of flowers.
