Louis J. Haak Sr., 78, of Waco, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Catherines Hospice Place. Services will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 am in the Mausoleum at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Doyle Ware and Rev. Jeff Wyers officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 pm, one hour prior to service. Louis was born May 25, 1935 in Falls County to Bill and Irene (Etheridge) Haak. He graduated from LaVega High School in 1953 and served in the Texas National Guard for 8 years. He also attended Baylor University and retired from Lone Star Gas Co. after 39 years of service. After retirement, Louis managed a game ranch in Junction, Texas and those were some of the happiest years in his life.He was an avid hunter and loved his family dearly. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Billy Joe Haak and hunting buddy, Arthur Peevey. Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Freda Haak of Waco; his daughter, Vicki Humphrey and husband, Albert, of Keller; son, Louis J. Haak Jr. and wife, June, of Waco; brother, Gerald Haak and wife, Mary Linda, of Harlingen; sister-in-law and friend, Anna Haak; grandson, Clinton Humphrey and wife, Brandi, of Keller; grandson, Brent Humphrey and wife Kelly, of Norfolk, Virginia; and great granddaughter, Savannah Humphrey; two furry family members, Bandit and Buddy and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be John Haak, Lee Haak, Barry Haak, Jeff Kennedy, Tommy Yourman, Clint Humphrey and Brent Humphrey. The family would like to thank Providence Hospice Staff and Visiting Angels care givers for all their care and support.
