Luna Mae Parker, 97, of Waco, passed away Friday, April 12 at a local nursing home. Services will be 10 am Wednesday, April 17 at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken James officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, April 16 at the funeral home. Mrs. Parker was born September 27, 1915 in Gatesville (Coryell County) to Thomas and Birdie (Brookshire) Shafer. She was a homemaker and a member of Timbercrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odus R. Parker on August 7, 1988; her daughters, Joyce Martin on June 28, 2004 and Sandra Dearen Hogeland on August 8, 2006. Survivors include her daughter, Flossie Mae Fountain of Florida; sons, Lermon Parker and wife, Odette of CA and Gail Parker and wife Rose of Waco; sister, Blanch Thrasher and husband. Dick of Ft. Worth; brother, Thomas Shafer Jr. of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be, Randy, Lonnie and Jarred Dearen, Rick and Gerry Sherwood, Rodney Taucher and J.B. Anz.
