Marie Pope, 73, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 at a local nursing home. Memorial services will be 2 pm Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Praise Temple Assembly of God Church at Parrish St. and I-35 South in Bellmead with Rev. Duane Hoxworth officiating. Mrs. Pope was born October 8, 1934 in Houston, TX. to Harry S. and Merle (Van Hoesen) Coons. She retired from Alamo Steel on September 28, 2007.She was the glue that held her family together and will be missed greatly. . Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Juanita Johnson and Rose Pope who also passed away September 30, 2008 in Tyler. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Smith of Ross and William Ross of Waco, brothers, Harry Coons Jr. of Seminole and Robert D. Coons of Magnolia, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog companion "Maxie" Memorials may be made to Praise Temple Assembly of God Church Missionary Fund.
