Mary Katherine (Nix) McLendon, 91 of Bellmead slipped away peacefully into the heavenly arms of Jesus Christ at the Providence Hospice/Waco.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd at Bellmead Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24th at Rosemound Cemetery. Pastor John Collier of Parkview Baptist Church will officiate.

Katherine attended Waco schools. She married the "love of her life" - J. C. (Buddie) McLendon on June 12, 1944. They were happily married for 38 years, until his death in July 1982.

Katherine was a homemaker and raised one son, Michael. Later, she was The Avon Lady, active in various community & volunteer programs - Meals on Wheels, Tri-Cities Senior Center, The Salvation Army League of Mercy/Community Care Ministries, etc. She loved people.

Katherine & Buddie were active in the Memorial Christian Church of Waco, teaching Sunday School for many years. Later, she became a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

Katherine is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Virginia Ann of Irving. Grandson Jeffrey Michael and wife Molly. Great Grand Daughter Avelyn Marie and Great Grandson Roan Michael, all of Canton, Michigan.

Survivors also include a brother, W. N. Nix, 97 of Waco. Several nieces/nephews. Special neighbors & friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. (Buddie) McLendon. Her parents, four brothers, and one half-sister.

Great Grandma McLendon's greatest passion & joy were seeing pictures & hearing stories of her two precious Great Grandchildren - Avelyn & Roan.

She was a wonderful Mother, Grandma, & Great Grandma. She will be greatly missed by all. She loved Snoopy Dog, butterflies, angels, & life.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff and nurses at St. Catherine & Providence Hospice for their dedicated loving care. She called it "Home".

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine or Providence Hospice. Any flowers will be donated to them for all to enjoy.
