Marcie Scheffer, a special angel was called home by her heavenly Father, Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Services will be 10 am Saturday, May 22, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Brian Pendelton officiating. Burial will be at Riesel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 21 at the funeral home. Mrs. Scheffer was born September 17, 1925 in Waco to Lester and Mary (Pierrard) Ivy. She was a member in the Ladies Auxiliary at V.F.W. Post #2148 and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary #121. She volunteered at the Waco Veterans Administration Hospital for over 40 years and was active with the American Red Cross Blood Drive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 54 years Bernhard "B.L." Scheffer on May 11, 1997; a daughter Ida Sawyer in 2009, a grandson David Sawyer in 2007 and a brother Lester Ivy Jr. Survivors include her daughter Linda Gyorko and husband Brad of Waco; sons John Scheffer and wife Elizabeth of Robinson and James Scheffer of West Virginia; brother John Ivy of California; grandchildren Heidi Hurst, Bradley Gyorko II, Stephanie Smelscer, Misty Gammel, Shawn Scheffer, Jeremy Scheffer, Jamie Rae Scheffer and Anna Scheffer; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Edmonds, Brian Edmonds, Jeff Winget, Doug Hurst, Doug Hurst II and Blaine Smelscer. Mrs. Scheffer was a faithful fund supporter of the St. Jude Children Hospital, Paralyzed and Disabled Veteran Organizations, Blind Books for Children, Oblate Missions, Vets First and the Humane Society.
